Heads up Popkommers - Popkomm 2009 has been Canceled

Toronto, June 19, 2009 - The Popkomm organization in Berlin has just informed us they have postponed this year's Popkomm event until 2010. Popkomm was originally set to take place in Berlin, this September 16 to 18. This means Canada Stand at Popkomm and the Canadian Blast! at Popkomm are canceled for this year. More details to follow. Contact Kathy Hahn, Canada Stand Coordinator with any questions. Thank you for your understanding.

Are you submitting to showcase at CMJ 2009 in New York October 20-24, 2009?

The deadline for submissions to CMJ is July 15, 2009

NOTE: There will be a Canadian BLAST showcase and multi-faceted Canadian BLAST marketing campaign.  Please let CIRPA (email: canadianblast@cirpa.ca) and nicki.dewar@international.gc.ca know ASAP if your band is interested in showcasing at CMJ 2009 as we can provide you with the appropriate information and hand-outs on the rigidly US Homeland Security enforced VISA application requirements.

Celebrating its fifth year, the Canadian Music Café is the place where film and music meet, providing a platform for Canadian artists to showcase their talent. The annual event takes place at the Hard Rock Cafe during the Toronto International Film Festival and features 15 artists over three days performing for music supervisors/executives, producers, directors and media from around the world. The Canadian Music Café presents all genres of music to the decision-makers of the international film community.
This year’s submission process, exclusively through Sonicbids, opens Friday, June 12th at 12:00 noon ET and closes Friday, June 26th at 5:00 p.m. ET. Artists and bands interested in performing at this year’s event, please visit www.sonicbids.com/canadianmusiccafe for information.

The Art of Managing Your Career is a resource guide,  from the Cultural human Resources Council, for self-employed artists and cultural workers in live performing arts; writing and publishing; visual arts and craft; film, television and broadcasting; digital media; music and sound recording, and heritage. This was developed by artists and cultural workers to provide emerging self-employed artists and cultural workers with pertinent and practical information to better manage their careers.
